Alibaba alternatives, by how you want to find suppliers.

Eight ways to find manufacturers and suppliers, from marketplaces and directories to PROCAI supplier search. Every fact about another platform comes from its own website, checked in November 2026.

What is Alibaba, and when do buyers look for an alternative?

Alibaba.com describes itself as the world's largest online B2B marketplace for manufacturers, suppliers, exporters and importers. Buyers search sellers who list on the platform, post a request for quotation, and can pay through Trade Assurance, which Alibaba describes as secure payment held in escrow with a money back claim if an order does not ship or does not match what was agreed.

Buyers look elsewhere for practical reasons: they need suppliers in their own region, suppliers who are not listed on any marketplace, or a quotation process that stays in their own mailbox. We make PROCAI, so weigh our view accordingly. It is not a marketplace and has no payment protection. For every other platform here, the facts come only from its own website.

Three ways to find suppliers.

Most searches for an Alibaba alternative are really a question about where your suppliers are and how you want to buy.

If you want a marketplace with buyer protection

  • Alibaba states that Trade Assurance holds payment in escrow until the product is received and confirmed
  • Made in China offers a Secured Trading Service with refunds up to 30 days after receipt
  • Both need the order to be paid through the platform for the protection to apply
  • PROCAI is not this kind of tool: you contract and pay the supplier directly

If your suppliers are in one region

  • IndiaMART covers Indian sellers and is free for buyers
  • ThomasNet covers North American suppliers, Europages covers European ones
  • Made in China and Global Sources focus on Chinese and Asian suppliers
  • Kompass is a company database across more than 70 countries, aimed at sales teams

If you want to find suppliers anywhere and send your own RFQs

  • PROCAI searches Google Maps and the web for a product in up to 3 countries at once
  • Each result lists its contact details where the supplier publishes them
  • One RFQ goes to the whole shortlist from your own Gmail, Microsoft 365 or SMTP mailbox
  • Replies come back to your mailbox and the quotations can be compared side by side

How to choose where to source, in four steps.

Start from where your suppliers are, not from a platform name.

  1. 1

Decide the product, region and risk

Write the product, the quantity, the country you want to buy from and how much protection you need on payment. A first order from an unknown factory needs different safeguards from a repeat order from a local supplier.

  2. 2

Pick two or three places to search

Use a marketplace where suppliers are listed for your region, and a search tool for suppliers that are not listed anywhere. Keep each list as a separate source so you can see which one found a supplier.

  3. 3

Send the same RFQ to a shortlist

Ask every supplier for the same specification, quantity and delivery terms, so the replies can be compared line by line. With PROCAI the RFQ goes from your own mailbox and replies are matched back to it.

  4. 4

Check the supplier before you pay

Ask for registration details, references and samples, and check the supplier's business registration yourself. A search result, on any platform, is a starting point and not a check.

When PROCAI is not the right Alibaba alternative.

PROCAI finds suppliers and manages the RFQ. Pick something else if one of these describes you.

  • You want payment protection. PROCAI has no escrow, no checkout and no money back claim; you agree terms with the supplier directly.
  • You want one marketplace with ratings and order history. PROCAI is not a marketplace and has no seller ratings.
  • You want a database of company records for sales prospecting. Kompass describes itself for that job; PROCAI is built for buyers.
  • The suppliers you want are not on the open web or Google Maps. PROCAI cannot find a supplier that publishes nothing online.

Alibaba alternatives, answered.

What is the best alternative to Alibaba for finding suppliers?

It depends on where your suppliers are. IndiaMART suits Indian sellers, Made in China and Global Sources suit Chinese and Asian suppliers, ThomasNet suits North America and Europages suits Europe. For suppliers in the Gulf or any country, including ones not listed on a marketplace, PROCAI searches Google Maps and the web by product and country and sends RFQs from your own mailbox.

Is there a free alternative to Alibaba?

Several platforms here are free for buyers, as they state on their own sites: IndiaMART, Global Sources registration and the Made in China Secured Trading Service, which charges a transaction fee on paid orders. PROCAI has a Free plan with no card that gives 8 credits once at signup, enough for one supplier search and one comparison sheet.

Is PROCAI a marketplace like Alibaba?

No. PROCAI does not list sellers, take orders or hold payments. It finds suppliers that already publish their details on the web and Google Maps, lets you send them an RFQ from your own mailbox and compares the quotations. You contract and pay the supplier directly, so there is no Trade Assurance style protection.

Does PROCAI check that a supplier is genuine?

No. Search results are not checked, on PROCAI or anywhere else. Ask for the commercial registration, references and samples, and confirm them yourself before you pay. Alibaba describes paid supplier audits on its own platform; PROCAI does not perform audits of any kind.

Can I use PROCAI together with Alibaba?

Yes. Many buyers use a marketplace for some products and a search tool for others. Quotations you receive from any source, whether as PDF, Excel or photos, can be uploaded to PROCAI and compared on one sheet, next to the ones you collected through your own RFQ.

Does PROCAI work in Arabic?

Yes. The app and the RFQ emails work in Arabic and English, and quotations written in Arabic can be read into the comparison sheet. Supplier search runs in up to 3 countries at once, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, so one search can cover your whole region.
