Regards,
[Name], [Company]What to ask for, and why
The numbered list at the bottom of the template is what makes replies comparable. Each line is routinely left out of quotations, and routinely decides which offer is really the cheapest.
01Unit price per component, stating system, size and finish
A painted cuplock standard and a galvanized one are not the same price or the same life on site. Until every line names its component, length and finish, the cheapest total may simply be a lighter or uncoated set.
02Standard and load class the system is certified to
Scaffolding carries people. The certificate to the stated standard and its load class is what makes the offer safe to accept, so ask for it at quotation stage.
03Wall thickness and weight per component
Thinner tube is cheaper and weaker. Weight per piece is the quickest check that two suppliers are quoting the same product.
04Erection, dismantling and transport priced separately
On rental especially, labour and transport can exceed the hire of the material. A lump sum hides the dear lines; an itemised offer can be compared line by line.
05Rental terms: minimum period, weekly rate and charges for loss or damage
Rental offers differ most in the minimum period and the damage charges, not the weekly rate. Those terms decide the real cost of a long job.
06Lead time from purchase order
A cheap system that arrives after the trades are waiting on site costs more than a dearer one that arrives on time.
07Offer validity period
Steel prices move. A short validity can expire before your approval cycle finishes.
