What to ask for, and why

The numbered list at the bottom of the template is what makes replies comparable. Each line is routinely left out of quotations, and routinely decides which offer is really the cheapest.

  1. 01Unit price per square metre, stating product, thickness and density

A 50 mm board at one density is not comparable to a 40 mm board at another. Until every price names its product, thickness and density on the face of the offer, the cheapest number on the table may simply be less insulation.

  2. 02Declared thermal conductivity and test certificate for the quoted standard

Thermal performance and waterproofing claims are certificate claims. Asked at quotation stage the certificate is priced and committed. Asked at delivery it becomes an argument, and a product without one cannot be shown to meet the design U value.

  3. 03Price basis, supply only or supply and apply

Insulation companies quote both ways, and the two are not comparable at the same number. Naming the basis on every offer stops a supply only price from being weighed against a price that includes the crew.

  4. 04Accessories and application itemised separately: primer, laps, protection board and flood test

Suppliers differ most on the application and accessories, not the membrane or board itself. A lump sum hides the dear lines, and an itemised offer is the only kind a comparison sheet can read line by line.

  5. 05Lead time from purchase order

Roof insulation and waterproofing sit on the critical path before the roof finishes and the basement backfill. The cheapest material that arrives after the slab is ready costs more than the dearest one that arrives on time.

  6. 06Warranty period and who issues it

A warranty from the manufacturer, one from the applicator and one covering both are different protections. Two offers at the same price with different warranty cover are not the same offer, so the terms belong in the quotation.

  7. 07Offer validity period

Insulation and membrane prices track petrochemical input costs. A seven day validity and a thirty day validity are not the same offer at the same number, because one of them expires before your approval cycle finishes.

Questions buyers ask about Insulation Material

Who supplies insulation materials in Saudi Arabia?

The Saudi market is served by domestic plants and by distributors carrying imported ranges, across thermal insulation (polystyrene boards, mineral wool and polyurethane foam) and waterproofing (bitumen membranes and liquid coatings), plus insulation companies that supply and apply on site. Rather than guess at a shortlist, run the search on your own specification. PROCAI returns the suppliers currently active for the product and thickness you need, with contact details.

How do I request an insulation quotation in Saudi Arabia?

State the product (XPS or EPS board, rock wool or glass wool, polyurethane foam, bitumen membrane or liquid coating), the thickness and density, the area in square metres, the thermal performance the design calls for, the standard (for example ASTM C578 for polystyrene board or EN 13707 for bitumen membranes), supply only or supply and apply, the delivery point and the required date. The ready to copy RFQ template on this page covers all of it. Paste it, fill the brackets, and send it to every supplier at once.

What should I check against the Saudi Building Code energy requirements?

The energy conservation parts of the Saudi Building Code (SBC 601 for non residential and SBC 602 for residential buildings) set maximum U values for roofs and walls, and the insulation thickness has to deliver them. Ask every supplier for the declared thermal conductivity of the quoted product and the test certificate behind it, so you check the offered thickness against the design U value instead of comparing thicknesses alone.

Should waterproofing be bought supply only or supply and apply?

Price it as separate lines either way. Membranes and coatings are easy to compare on paper, but on roofs and basements the result depends on the application: surface preparation, primer, laps, upturns at parapets, protection board and the flood test. An offer that names each of these, with the warranty and who issues it, is what makes two offers comparable line by line, which is exactly how a comparison sheet reads them.

Which Saudi cities does this cover?

The supplier list is countrywide and includes suppliers delivering into Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Al Khobar, Jubail, Mecca, Medina and Yanbu. When you run the search live you can name your delivery city and see who serves it.

Do these suppliers deliver insulation to {city}?

The list on this page was built by searching for insulation and waterproofing suppliers in and around {city} specifically, not nationally, so these are the plants, distributors and applicators actually serving {city} projects. Boards and rolls are light but take a lot of truck space, and membranes should be stored out of direct sun, so ask for the delivered price to your {city} address as a separate line from the ex works price, which is what the RFQ template on this page does.
