01Price per metre and per drum, with standard drum length
Cable is sold on drums, not by the metre you need. Two suppliers at the same rate per metre can differ materially once drum lengths and the resulting offcuts are counted.
02Any part-drum cutting charge
Cutting a drum to your length is a chargeable operation at most suppliers. It is rarely volunteered and routinely decides which quotation is genuinely cheapest.
03Manufacturer offered, and SEC approval + SASO conformity status
For anything connecting to the Saudi Electricity Company network the manufacturer generally has to sit on the approved list for that voltage class. This is the single most common reason an accepted quotation has to be re-tendered.
04Offer validity period
Cable pricing tracks the copper market. A quotation without a stated validity is a number that may not survive your approval cycle.
05Lead time from purchase order
Cable to a non-standard specification is made to order, not picked from stock. The lead time, not the price, is usually what puts a supplier out of contention.
06Test certificates provided with delivery
Certificates that arrive with the drums keep the installation moving. Certificates promised and then chased hold up energisation.
